Unconditional Love.

When a dog offers you his heart
Accept it with a smile
For his love will last a lifetime -
Which is such a little while.

When a dog offers you his heart
Take it gladly and with pride
For he will be a faithful friend
Ever by your side.

A dog loves you because you're you -
Not for how you speak or what job you do
You could be short, tall, thin or fat
Or ugly as sin, he doesn't care about that.

A dog knows if you're good or bad
He can see inside your soul
When he decides you're okay
To earn your love is his main goal.

When you're sad, he'll comfort you
And kiss away each tear
You may even wake up in the morning
With a cold nose in your ear.

When eventually the time comes
And the lights in his eyes dim
A new star will shine in Heaven
In remembrance of him.

You'll gaze up at the midnight sky
And you will hear him say -
"I'm so glad you were my human
We'll meet again some day!"

So, if this poem has caused a tear to fall
That's because you love the dog who's giving you his all
Go travel on together, happily paw in glove
He's the only one who'll ever give you unconditional love.

The Greatest Gift


I always knew this time would come
From the very first time our eyes first met
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then and I keep that promise now.
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal,
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.
It is for me alone to make this decision.
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter.
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.
It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready,
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger,
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
And give you the last gift, the greatest gift.
Your eyes will speak to mine, and I will know.
The pain of this moment is excruciating,
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow,
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken and I have listened
And unlike other decisions I have made,
This one brings no relief...no comfort...no peace
For if there's one thing I have learned...
Unconditional love has a condition after all.
I must be willing to let you go when you speak to me,
I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.
Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find the ones who have gone before you.
You are free to leave me now, free to let your spirit soar.
I pray I will find comfort in my memories...
In the dark and lonely days ahead
I cannot say I will not miss you,
I cannot say I will not cry,
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But I promise you this...
as long as I live...You will live
Alive in my mind, forever in my heart
And this will be my greatest gift...

Into Spirit

I see you grieve,
I feel you grieve
But I am with you.
And will stay, til you laugh
When remembering the fun
We had in all those years.
Thank you for the courage to let me go,
No more weary, no more pain,
I am with you, you will feel me
My cold nose, my waving tail.
You will see my smiling mouth and shining fur,
You will hear my happy voice.
I can run now, I can play now
With all my family and my friends.
But I will love you and I will watch you
Til we meet again.

A Woodland Place

A woodland place full of dreams,
A mossed bank and bluebells,
Grey ashes floating down
Sinking into browned rich earth,
Spirit soft bodies,
Happy eyes waving tails
Cold noses pressed into our hands
There and all around, easing grief,
In soft warm, warm spring air.

I miss you so much; my four-legged friend
I ask myself each day; if the pain will ever end
Your loss is so hard; for one person to bear
because we were a team; an inseparable pair

You were by my side; when I got up each day
waiting so patiently; to go out and play
You were there each night; when I got home
waiting to go to the park; where you could roam

You always knew; if I was having a bad day
so you'd snuggle up close; and try to get me to play
If that didn't work; you'd put your head in my lap
then make yourself comfortable; and take a nap

One way or another you; would brighten my day
like only you could; you had a special way
You gave me a lifetime; of memories to hold
through all the years ahead; till I'm gray and old

I promise I'll see you; again one day
when we'll be together again; to go run and play

sending kisses to heaven

Dear PJ some days are so hard without you,in fact most days,I would do anything if I could just have you and Sammy here again,I am always looking for something of yours,have found a few hairs here and there,crazy but I pet the hair as if you were still here,I feel like our goodbye was so quick,I knew as well as you that your days were coming to an end,your body was giving up and mommy didn't want you to struggle anymore. I just wish I would have held you longer that last day and gave you more kisses instead of running around in a panic and screaming because you were so sick,I just want you to know a part of me went with you that day and that I will always love you,be waiting for me sweet pea you and Sammy whenever that day comes for me,maybe you know and already are prepared for that day. just know mommy will never forget you,you were to special to me,so was Sammy,miss you both so very much, sending lots of kisses to you both,should be reaching heaven soon!!!!!!!!
